To celebrate the 15th anniversary of the establishment of a sister city in Leshan,Sichuan and Issy-les-Moulineaux, France, Leshan gifted Issy-les-Moulineaux a Leshan Giant Buddha statue, which is 2 meters long, 1.5 meters wide and 2meters high.

In July 1, 2017, the completion ceremony of Buddha statue was held at the Luo Dan Park in Issy-les-Moulineaux. Zhang Tong, mayor of Leshan, Zheng Guilin, secretary general of Leshan Municipal People's Government, Andre Santini, mayor of Issy-les-Moulineaux, vice mayor of Issy-les-Moulineaux, Alain Levy, head of the French National Cooperation Project Department and Li Yonggang, chief representative of Sichuan investment promotion representative office, cut the ribbon together for the completion ceremony.

From October 2016 to July 2017, during the 8 months,the Leshan Investment Promotion Bureau and the foreign affairs and overseas Chinese Affairs Bureau, the municipal international cooperation agency and the Sichuan Investment Promotion Office in France cooperated with a common effort and completed the Buddha statue design, production, site selection, transportation, placement and ribbon cutting ceremony.The statue as one of the most famous cultural symbols in Sichuan Province, permanently placed in the wisdom of the city of Paris,Issy-les-Moulineaux, echoed with the Eiffel Tower. Symbolizing the everlasting friendship between Sichuan people and French people.
